But at least in my case thats not what was going on, because of the cheap quality of the megan DPs there was quite a bit of play in the downpipes where they bolted to the turbos. I found if I loosened the bolts and then tried to get the test pipes on I could get the alignment where I needed it to bolt them up. I ended up looses bolting all the exhaust together and then raising it up to I could adjust my alignment. But like you said, you wouldnt want to be putting strain on the threads for the bolts or such.
